Up to a $1,000 Reward Offered for Info on Strong Arm Robberies

Licking County Crime Stoppers is offering up to a $1,000 reward for anyone with information leading to arrest in two strong arm robberies in Newark. The Newark Police Department reports around 8 p.m. on Aug. 8, a man stopped to check the engine of his motorized bike at the intersection of W. Main and Sixth St., and was assaulted. The suspect fled with the bike which was later recovered.

Police also report around 1 a.m. on Aug. 1, a man was assaulted by two men while walking on W. Church St. between 9th and 10th Streets. The suspects attempted to take the victim's money, but left without it. The first suspect is described as a white male with a mohawk haircut, wearing a white shirt and blue jeans, between 27-34 years old, around 6 feet tall, and weighing 230 pounds. The second suspect is described as a 20-60 year old male, around 5-feet-10 inches tall, and wearing a white shirt and blue jeans.

Anyone with information on these crimes is urged to call the Licking County Crime Stoppers at 740-349-6888 or 1-888-488-9058. A special coding system protects the identity of the caller but allows for the reward to be issued at a later time.

Crime Stoppers also takes calls from persons with information about any felony. Information leading to the arrest and indictment of a felony suspect could qualify the caller for a reward as determined by the Crime Stoppers’ Board. Crime Stoppers is a non-profit organization.
