Reward Offered for Info on Counterfeit Money Crimes in Newark

Licking County Crime Stoppers is offering up to a $1,000 reward for anyone with information leading to an arrest regarding the washing, making, printing, copying and/or passing of counterfeit bills in Newark.

The Newark Police Department reports counterfeit bills were passed at the following downtown Newark locations:

  • On Nov. 4, a fake $100 bill was passed at Wendy’s at 10 S. Second St.
  • On Nov. 4, a fake $100 bill was passed at McDonald's at 21 S. Third St.
  • On Nov. 18, a fake $100 bill was passed at Family Dollar at 200 E. Main St.
  • On Nov. 21, a fake $100 bill was passed at Family Dollar at 200 E. Main St.
  • On Nov. 21, a fake $50 bill was passed at Ken's Market at 322 Hudson Ave.

  • On Nov. 21, a fake $50 bill was passed at Speedway at 364 E. Main St.
  • On Nov. 29, a fake $100 bill and $20 bill were passed at Speedway at 364 E. Main St.
  • On Dec. 6, a fake $20 bill was passed at United Dairy Farmers at 77 N. 4th St.

Anyone with information on these crimes is urged to call Newark Police Detective Travis Delancey at 740-670-7938, Newark Police at 740-670-7201, or the Licking County Crime Stoppers at 740-349-6888 or 1-888-488-9058. A special coding system on the Crime Stoppers hotline protects the identity of the caller but allows for the reward to be issued at a later time.

Crime Stoppers also takes calls from persons with information about any felony. Information leading to the arrest and indictment of a felony suspect could qualify the caller for a reward as determined by the Crime Stoppers’ Board. Crime Stoppers is a non-profit organization. Reward money comes from private individuals, businesses, and foundations that see Crime Stoppers as an integral tool in the community’s fight against crime.
