Reward Offered for Info Leading to Arrests in Car Thefts in Newark

Licking County Crime Stoppers is offering up to a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in car thefts in Newark.  The Newark Division of Police reports, during the overnight hours on July 24, a Kia Sedona was stolen from S. 26TH St.  The van was recovered on Fairlawn Ave.  On July 22, two Hyundai’s had their steering columns ripped out. One on Lakeview Dr and the other on N. 40TH St.

 

There have been several stolen vehicles throughout the city of Newark this summer. Several vehicles have had their steering columns ripped out in attempt to steal the vehicle. Most of these are Hyundai’s and Kia’s. As a reminder if you drive one of these makes of cars, please take precautions and lock your vehicles, use a steering wheel lock, or park in a garage if possible.

 

Anyone with information on these crimes is urged to call the Licking County Crime Stoppers at 740-349-6888. A special coding system protects the identity of the caller but allows for the reward to be issued at a later time. Crime Stoppers also takes calls from persons with information about any serious crime.
